The Clarets have signed 17 year old hot prospect, Luke Gallagher from Dublin-based club, Cherry Orchard on a two-year scholarship deal. He has already been captain of the Republic of Ireland Under 17 side and will be eligible to play for Burnley’s youth team once international clearance has been received.

The club have also offered a trial to highly-rated, Mansfield Town defender, Tom Naylor.

The 20 year old was at Derby County last week on trial but returned to the Blue Square Bet Premier Conference league club after talks broke down at Pride Park. The player has also interested Premier League, Fulham and League 1 Bournemouth.

Mansfield boss, Paul Cox is giving his player one last chance to go out on trial.

Cox told the club’s official website:

“This will probably be Tom’s final opportunity [on a trial].

“We want Tom here if no club is to meet our valuation.”

He will be at Turf Moor for a week whilst Eddie Howe and his team assess the player.
