Burnley boss Steve Cotterill has revealed that defender Wayne Thomas is in line for a return to first team activities.

The 26-year-old, signed from Stoke City last summer, has missed games within the last couple of weeks, with a knee injury sustained in the home defeat to Preston, but a return to the first team is reportedly imminent.

Cotterill said: ‘Wayne has had an operation to remove a piece of cartilage that was causing him some grief.

‘He wasn’t close enough to feature at the weekend, so we’ll just have to wait and see how he is.’

It is welcome news for Burnley, who will be without Frank Sinclair for the trip to Ipswich, after he collected his tenth booking of the season in last weekend’s victory over Plymouth.
