The defender is alleged to have gestured at opposing fans and shoved a police officer in a Stoke City match last season.

The 26 year-old answered the charges relating to a match for the Potters against Milwall in February lasy year.

The trial commenced at Bexley Magistrates Court, London, yesterday (Monday).

Security Supervisor Kevin Taylor told District Judge Anthony Woodcock that Thomas gestured from the dugout, inciting the home supporters.

‘He had one hand up, with the middle finger raised.’

The centre-half was goaded, and gesticulated again, before allegedly pushing past Sgt D’Arcy at the end of the match.

‘The match ended, and Thomas then pushed Sgt D’Arcy in the chest when he approached him, swearing saying: ‘Get out of my way,’ Mr Taylor said.

Stoke won the match 1-0.
