The Club announced the winner of their Player of the Year Award at a dinner last Wednesday night. Wade Elliott just pipped Michael Duff to the award.

The gaffer,Steve Cotterill had this to say about the award

‘I think there is more to come from Wade.

‘I really hope that he can take on what he learns from his summer programme, and what he has taken from this season, and go up a level as I expect even more.’

The gaffer gave an update on the situation regarding the injury to James O’Connor following the horrific head injury in the match against WBA

Cotterill said: ‘James is doing okay. He is certainly better now than he was a week ago, but he took a bad knock that night and he won’t be selected for the final game against Coventry.

‘It’s disappointing for him to come off after the knock at West Brom but there was not a lot we could do about that, so we think that it’s best to leave that one for now as we don’t want him to pick up another knock.’

The Official Site are reminding Clarets fans that Sunday is ‘Claret and You’ Day, where supporters are encouraged to turn up and turn Turf Moor in to a sea of claret for the Coventry match.

‘So before we sign off for the summer dig out anything claret – from old replica shirts, to scarves to balloons or anything else you can lay your hands on.’

There was further encouraging news this week following the announcement that the gaffer was interested in signing Eric Djemba-Djemba on a season long loan for 2007/8.

The Clarets boss revealed he had now spoken to Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill regarding a possible long-term loan.

He said: ‘I have spoken to Martin. I’ve also spoken to Eric and I think he would be happy to return here, which was pleasing.

‘But it’s down to Martin and how he sees Eric’s future at Aston Villa.

‘The difficult thing is to have a conversation with Martin when he’s still in his season, but he knows my ideas and my thoughts.

‘We actually wouldn’t be trying to send Eric back. We would look to retain him through the summer, give him a (fitness) programme and take it from there.

‘We’d like it to be a long-term loan. We’re just hopeful on that one at the moment.’
