Burnley return to the Premier League looking to go better than our last spell in the topflight, which lasted just the one season of course.

With this a season Sam Vokes wasn’t really able to add too much from.

Injured on our way to the Premier League in the 2013/14 promotion season he was limited to just 15-matches (five from the start) as he battled back from his cruciate knee ligament injury with the majority of the second half of the 2014/15 season spent returning to full fitness.

Vokes’ return from injury continued this season in fact.

The second half of the campaign, when really back to his best, saw him hit a purple patch with the Welsh international ending with 16-goals, with his goal against QPR confirming our promotion with him playing his part in the final day win over Charlton to clinch the title.

Not only is Vokes seeing next seasons Premier League campaign as one to take care of ‘unfinished business’ personally Burnley will be aiming to do this as a club collectively too, with him answer a question put to him in the Lancashire Telegraph with this answer.

‘I do yes, on a personal note and as a squad. It was tough getting relegated last year but to bounce back as we have and to get promoted as champions is amazing. You don`t see many teams do it. It`s tough to come back down and do that.’

Adding it took him the best part of 18-months to feel right.

‘Although it was nine months on the pitch I think it took a good 18 months for myself to get back to where I feel I`m back to now. Hopefully I`ll have a good summer and get ready to come back and go again in pre-season.’

If Vokes can take his goalscoring form of 12-goals in his last 21-matches into the summer with Wales they’ll not go far wrong at the European Championships in France, with his chance (hopefully) to properly show what he can do in the Premier League too we shouldn’t go far wrong.

He’s worked hard to get back to full fitness and has the chance to prove he’s at a level he deserves to be at, as do we as a club with all concerned coming back strong this time you feel with it a season I’m already looking forward to with great anticipation!
