Vital Burnley are pleased to announce the arrival of 14 year old Jamie who will be writing articles for the site under the name of ‘Young Claret’

Please give him your support and encouragement.

Please note his first article below was written before the departure of Owen Coyle

Clarets Duo Set for Return

Burnley stars Chris McCann and Martin Paterson are close to a return to action to provide the Clarets with a New Year’s boost. It is reported both players are back training with the first team squad after recovering from long-term injuries.

‘Both McCann and Paterson have now trained with me for a couple of sessions and done well’ said Owen Coyle recently on the Official club website.

In the closing months of 2009 there was speculation going around that both McCann and Paterson would be returning for the Manchester United away game which is set to be played on Saturday 16th January 2010.

However the return date has still not been confirmed, which we cant expect for a few days or weeks until the Owen Coyle crisis is out of the way.

In my opinion and many other peoples opinion, bringing back McCann would help us strengthen up the midfield where he will most likely play by the side of youngster Kevin McDonald, who has played some superb football this season. Paterson, I can’t see reaching the first squad anytime soon, due to Steven Fletcher and David Nugent who have both been on very good form recently.

My opinion also stands with the 2 weakest areas in our squad ie the Defence and Midfield. The midfield issue might just be solved with the return of Chris McCann.

Our other two current injuries are to Steven Caldwell and Jay Rodriguez

Burnley captain Steven Caldwell is injured for 1 month with a groin injury which is supposed to be similar with the injury the skipper got at the beginning of the season, according to the Official Site.

Jay Rodriguez is only just behind Chris McCann and Martin Paterson after suffering from a fractured ankle, He isn’t yet confirmed to be training with the first team squad however we are told he is making a good recovery.

Thanks for reading my first article.
