Burnley’s Championship season continued with a defeat at Turf Moor against Reading on Saturday.

A five-match unbeaten run came to an end for Burnley with two early goals from Blackman and Piazon leaving Reading, who have now won four-matches away in a row, in control inside of 10-minutes. Darikwa pulled one back for the Clarets but an equaliser couldn’t be found with a first home defeat of the season suffered in this two-one defeat.

In the opening minutes, with Keane unable to clear the danger, Blackman (5) finished from a fine Robson-Kanu back-heel to set him up to make it one-nil with it soon two with Chelsea loanee Piazon (9) finishing off a Reading counter attack from a Gunter cross.

Kightly had the best chance for Burnley in the first half but his effort was saved well by Reading ‘keeper Bond, with Dyche turning to Barton in the second half bringing him on for his Clarets debut.

Darikwa (67) was left with a simple tap in for his first goal since his arrival from Chesterfield in the summer, which has seen him impress so far, after Arfield crossed in to give Burnley hope at the midway point of the second half.

Vokes had a chance that was kept out by Bond, however if it wasn’t for Darikwa at the other end, when he cleared off the line, Blackman would have had his second and Reading’s third with Norwood also clearing off the line to keep the Royals ahead from a Keane header.

Norwood had the final saw as he hit the crossbar with a freekick, but Reading had done enough to move up to third in the Championship, which is a position Burnley had occupied at kick-off.
