Jones (7) had Burnley ahead early on when he beat debutant Sheffield Wednesday ‘keeper Wildsmith, brought into the side as one of the number of changes following defeat to Middlesbrough last time, with an effort the teenager had no chance with.

Wednesday were level when Nuhiu (20) headed in a Pudil cross to make it one-all with the Owls going close to being ahead by half time with Forestieri having his header cleared off the line.

Burnley had also gone close but the Clarets had another scare from Forestieri in the second half when his effort went over the bar but 12-minutes from time Taylor (78) had Burnley ahead again when he finished off having been put in by Gray.
