Striker Sam Vokes has said that Burnley remain very confident ahead of our trip to Goodison Park this weekend.
The Welsh international has won his place back in the side following his return from injury and has been largely impressive alongside Danny Ings with Ashley Barnes taking the wider role, but he knows that confidence is only part of it – we need to start converting more chances to take the results we need and deserve.
Speaking to the Official Site Vokes said that we could take a lot of heart from our performances in the recent run in the league, but echoing the manager it was now about taking that into the final games and getting the good results required.
‘The lads are feeling brilliant and it`s been a good little run for us recently, a tough one, but we`ve come out of it with some good results and performances so we go into this weekend full of confidence. Everton are another strong side in this league so it will tough again but we’ve got some big results against Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea. It doesn`t get any easier at this level, we know that, but it`s a chance for us to go to Goodison and show what we`re all about really. To show that the performances we`ve been putting in lately can justify a result.’
Turning those performances into results is obviously key and the next step and to do that we have to create more chances and take more chances, but Vokes knows confidence will obviously play it’s part in that and getting the five points we did to keep ourselves in the mix during that top eight run was obviously key.
‘We`re looking at the run-in now after that tough run of fixtures and getting some results in those have set us up nicely. That starts at Everton and we know it`ll be another tough one but it should be a good game. It`s important that we get the results now and we know what we need now in the next few games.’
