Burnley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Stephen Ward in the three nil victory over Charlton Athletic at the weekend at The Valley was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Ward was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Ward was involved in two of Burnley`s three goals as the Clarets clinched the Sky Bet Championship title in style. The 3-0 victory extended the unbeaten streak of Sean Dyche`s men to 23 games.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Ward for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course securing the Championship title to go with automatic promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Full Team:

Sam Sargeant (Leyton Orient), Lee Brown (Bristol Rovers), Stephen Ward (Burnley), Chey Dunkley (Oxford United), Gaston Ramirez (Middlesbrough), Jake Livermore (Hull City), Jon Taylor (Peterborough United), Anthony Forde (Walsall), Sam Winnall (Barnsley), Jabo Ibehre (Carlisle United), Louis Rooney (Plymouth Argyle).

Manager – Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers).
