Well we thought the Clarets might be having a well earned rest during the two week break apart from our players on International duty.

Not so it would appear for some of our peripheral players and those returning from injury.

The Clarets yesterday played our local rivals Blackpool for the second time this season but this time in a behind closed doors friendly at our training ground.

The Clarets earned a 1-1 draw against a strong Blackpool team that included Stephen McPhee returning from injury, Marlon Broomes and Alex Baptiste.

The former Spurs player, Joe Martin scored for Blackpool thanks to some good work from Burnley nearly-man, Alan Gow.

Steve Jones was the player on target for the Clarets and we would have won 2-1 had Matt Gilks not saved a penalty.

The Clarets too had a fairly strong side which included Robbie Blake and Ade Akinbyi.
