It’s being reported that Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood will soon complete a switch to Turf Moor, but the door has been closed on Andrew Robertson.

Sky Sports are reporting that the player has been at the club since around 2pm and he has now completed his medical ahead of an impending move.

Manager Sean Dyche was linked with the former Crewe midfielder over the summer but with Dean Marney out injured and doubts over Joey Barton and his Football Association issues, the gaffer has clearly moved for the 26 year old to provide greater cover in the middle of the park.

A speculated fee is said to be in the £5million area but equally there are some suggestions it might be a loan move until the end of the current campaign.

Having moved to Villa back in 2012 he has made over 150 appearances for them since then and this season following their relegation to the Championship he has featured in 23 of their 27 games.

It also appears the Robbie Brady deal from Norwich City is still ticking through as well.

As for Robertson, with speculation linking us with a move for Hull City’s left back, their head coach Marco Silva has categorically ruled out any deals for the player today – despite it being said Monday saw a £10million bid for him accepted.

The Mirror have Silva saying about the speculation.

‘Andy Robertson is not leaving, he is our player. He is important for us and he is preparing to play tomorrow night.’
