Swindon manager,Paul Sturrock left the Robins to join Plymouth as manager this week and the media have been suggesting that Steve Cotterill could be the favourite to take over the Wiltshire club.

He would also appear to be the bookmaker’s favourite although the only strong reason appears to be the fact that he is familiar with the area being close to Cheltenham.

I suppose any job is better than no job, but this could be viewed as nothing but a backward step for the manager who was once claimed to be the ‘Best Young Manager Outside the Premiership’

The Plymouth fans at one point were even suggesting that Cotterill might have been considered for the manager’s job down in Devon, but there didnt appear to be any strong rationale for this once it was known that Sturrock was hovering around his former club.

Before that Cotterill was linked with Preston after Paul Simpson got the boot.

We all know though that the Nobbers had other ideas sniffing around at Goodison Park to poach Everton assistant coach Alan Irvine who is now the new manager at Preston

Its not easy being an out-of-work manager, lets hope the right opportunity comes along for our former gaffer sooner rather than later.
