Burnley manager Steve Cotterill is hoping his team can complete a Championship double over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday evening and says:
‘It’s okay having a game on a Tuesday after you’ve been beaten, but it’s only good for getting it out of the system if you can win,’ he said.
‘We were disappointed on Saturday because we were comfortable and it was only long range shots from them really.’
The two sides are closely placed in the Championship table too, with Wolves just one point above Burnley in the chase for the top six.
‘I know if we beat them, we’ll go above them and if a couple of other results go our way, we could be eighth in the table,’ added Cotterill.
‘It would be very good if we could do the double over them and we’ll be very determined to do that.
‘I was proud of the lads there, because when you look at what we have available to us and what Wolves have available to them, then it’s a testament to our lads that we’re on the same playing field.
‘But we are, we have been and we will be on Tuesday night.’
‘We’re a little bit light at the moment but that’s a problem we’ll deal with and it’s no different to what we’ve had all season,’ explained Cotterill.
‘We’re not going to be panicking going into the game because we’re a bit light on defenders though, because we’ve been light on defenders all season.’
‘We’re good when the crowd are behind us and hopefully they will be on Tuesday,’ he added.
‘They know we’ve got to challenge and when they’ve got to challenge and they help the players.
‘I think the crowd understand where we are and where our standing is and what we’re trying to do.
‘We need that, whether we’re 11th in the league, 23rd in the league or top of the league.
‘The boys will need the full backing out on that pitch.’
