BURNLEY striker Robbie Blake has admitted that he will consider his options in the January transfer window if he has failed to regain his place in the Clarets’ starting eleven.
Last season Blake made a total of 43 appearances of which only four were from the substitutes bench towards the end of the campaign, but this season is a completely different story for the Middlesborough born forward.
Thirteen appearances in the Claret and Blue of Burnley so far this campaign and nine of them have come from the bench. It isn’t a matter of Blake playing poorly it is a case of Owen Coyle possessing a very strong side that of late has been performing to a high standard.
Blake admitted his frustration whilst speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire and even said that he may consider his options come January: ‘I’m frustrated that I’m not playing,’
‘But I just have to knuckle down and get on with it. Maybe in a month’s time I’ll have to re-address it.’
The first switch to Turf Moor arrived in 2002 when the then Bradford City man signed for the Clarets in what was a joint club record signing of £1million a fee which had been spent on Ian Moore not long before.
But then the bigger clubs started to circle and a move to Premiership side Birmingham followed for a fee of £1.25million, but it didn’t last long as he was soon on his way to Elland Road to play for Leeds United.
Former manager Steve Cotterill lured him back to East Lancashire in a £250,000 deal in July 2007, but now the substitute cameos are getting to Blake, who is a firm fans favourite in the town.
‘I need to play at the end of the day,’ he said, ‘so I’ll have to have a look at that in the next month or so.
‘Hopefully I can get in the team before then but, if not, I’ll have to have a rethink and see what happens.’
