Jimmy Mullen-New manager of Walsall

Former Clarets boss Jimmy Mullen has been officially announced by Walsall as their new manager.

Jimmy Mullen had taken over temporary charge after Walsall manager Richard Money resigned last month.

Mullen arrived at Walsall in September 2007 to take up the assistant manager role.

Reading too much into Little

It is understood Glen Little is looking to move back up north. He had been offered a new deal at Reading although he has been out injured for most of the season and made just two substitute appearances for the club last April.

Oster Released

One Reading player that has definitely been released is former Claret, John Oster who is now looking for another club.

Cole Sarfend to Career?

Andrew Cole, who recently turned down a pay-as-you-play deal for the Clarets was rumoured to be interesting Nottingham Forest. This week however it would appear Southend may be after the 36-year old striker.Cole is expected to also be offered a pay-as-you-play deal by the Shrimpers, similar to the Burnley offer, but he will also be offered a coaching role at an agreed salary. Southend narrowly missed out on promotion from League 1 this season being beaten by Doncaster in the Play-Offs semi-final. Another club potentially interested in Andrew Cole appear to be Bristol City, who will soon be fighting for promotion in the Championship Play-Offs final against Hull. Their interest will no doubt be dependent on the outcome of that game and whether the club get promoted to the Premier League.

Ian Cox Still Boating

Cox played a number of games for Gillingham this season but left the club in March this year. At the ripe old age of 37, he will now play for Maidstone United in the Rymans League Premier Division next season.

Perhaps a Blessed Release?

A list of other former Clarets all been released and leaving their current clubs includes the following:

Graham Branch (Accrington Stanley)
Andy Cooke (Shrewsbury)
Tony Grant (Chester)
Keith Lowe (Wolves)
Mark McGregor (Port Vale)
Paul McVeigh (Luton)
John Mullin (Tranmere)
Frank Sinclair (Huddersfield)
Stanislav Varga (Sunderland)
