The international break is now upon us and a number of Clarets players will be on duty next week for their countries.

Sam Vokes will be in the Wales squad for their World Cup qualifying games coming up against Macedonia and Serbia. The Welsh play Macedonia in Skopje on Friday, 6th September, before hosting Serbia in Cardiff four days later, on Tuesday, September 10th.

Meanwhile left back, Danny Lafferty is in the squad for Northern Ireland. They have two World Cup matches coming up against Portugal on Friday, 6th September and Luxembourg in the Josy Barthel Stadium the following Tuesday. Lafferty though will miss out on the Portuguese clash due to suspension but is hoping to be in contention for the game against Luxembourg.

Another of our defenders, centre back David Edgar meanwhile skips over to Mainland Europe to represent Canada in Valencia, Spain in two friendies against African minnows Mauritania. He will be in a training camp for ten days in preparation for the two matches.

Cameron Howieson is again on international duty for New Zealand during the break. He joins up with eighteen of his teammates to take part in OSN Cup, a four-team tournament being played out in Saudi Arabia. Their first game will be against tournament hosts, Saudi in Riyadh on Thursday, 5th September and the All Whites will then play either a final or third-placed play off the following Monday against either the UAE or Trinidad and Tobago.

Australia are heading for a London training camp over four days between September 6-9 too and that will mean opportunities for three of our development squad. Goalkeeper Daniel Nizic and youth team duo Callum Richardson and Kevin Ly will all be involved.

Finally defender Cameron Dummigan is included in the Northern Ireland U19 squad and will be travelling to Vienna for a friendly against Austria on Wednesday, September 11. Dummigan was recently named last season youth team player of the year.
