Martin Paterson recently returned to international duty for Northern Ireland playing away to Montengro in a friendly match earlier this month. The 2-0 defeat was made worse for Pato when he picked up a booking in the 36th minute after clashing with Luka Pejovic.

This was Northern Ireland’s final warm-up game before the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Paterson however will be pleased to learn this week that he has been called up to the squad again by Northern Ireland boss, Nigel Worthington. He could now play in the opening Euro 2012 qualifying game away to Slovenia on Friday 3rd September.

Northern Ireland are grouped with Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Estonia and the Faroe Islands in the qualifiers and they will be hoping to get to the Euro 2012 finals to be played in Poland and Ukraine.

Andre Bikey will have been disappointed not to play in the South Africa 2010 World Cup for Cameroon. He was not even named in the squad for that competition.

He did however play recently for Cameroon in a friendly game against Poland, a match the Indomitable Lions won 3-0.

There is more good news today. New Cameroon boss, Javier Clemente, the former national coach of Spain has named Bikey in the squad for an African Cup of Nations qualifier. He will now travel to the Indian Ocean and hopefully play against Mauritius on Saturday 4th September.
