Burnley have cemented their position in 4th, after bagging a late victory over fierce rivals Preston NE tonight.

In a pulsating game at Turf Moor in front of the Sky cameras, the Clarets, having seemed down and out with just ten minutes to go, showed more of the never say die spirit of this season, to snatch two goals, and condemn Paul Simpson’s side to their first defeat in eleven games.

Burnley took the lead, with a scrappy move, which Gifton Noel-Williams’ attempt fell kindly to James O’Connor, who finished smartly, to send the Clarets in with a half time lead.

It was the second half that will be remembered, with four goals in a mad-cap 16 minutes, with Preston gaining the initiative with a finely taken Simon Whaley goal, and Brett Ormerod gave them a fortunate lead, when he coolly finished after a misplaced Frank Sinclair header.

That left the Clarets with all the work to do in the final ten minutes, and a St.Ledger own goal, as he jostled with Andy Gray for a superb Sinclair cross, levelled the scores at 2-2.

Andy Gray showed his ability in front of goal again, when he made the deftest of touches, to guide a cross past the North End keeper, and send the Clarets home with a deserved win, as a thrilling second half came to a climax.
