A quick fire Andy Gray double gave the Clarets a happy Halloween, continuing their impressive away form with a 2-0 victory over Luton.

The home side, who were unbeaten on their own patch this season, completed a miserable few days, as the in-form striker Gray fired a resolute Burnley side up to third.

Burnley looked impressive despite injury and illness problems, with captain Wayne Thomas missing out with a knee problem, and Gifton Noel-Williams and James O’Connor sidelined with flu.

The win was tainted somewhat with the dismissal of Foster, who deputised for Thomas, with the defender picking up two yellow cards, forcing the Clarets to play the last quarter hour with ten men.

The first goal came when Gray latched on to a long Sinclair pass, after Lafferty and Luton’s Leon Barnett missed headers, with Gray lifting expertly over former Clarets keeper Marlon Beresford.

Gray doubled his tally for the evening just five minutes later, when another inch perfect Wade Elliott cross gave him the opportunity to nod into the goal for his ninth in what is proving to be a highly productive season.
