Former Clarets gaffer,Steve Cotterill is the new Notts County boss.
He will take over the 7th placed League 2 side from current caretaker manager, Dave Kevan until the end of the season.
Kevan of course was part of Cotterill’s backroom staff at Burnley and he will now become assistant manager and once more work with Cotterill
Cotterill has been out of management for two years since leaving Turf Moor by mutual consent back in November 2007.
County are now under new owners but there are financial concerns and there was a fear that the club could go into administration because of the size of their current and future debts. They are currently believed to be about £6 million in debt. However new owner and former Lincoln City chairman Ray Trew has been sorting out the club’s dire finances and today the club have also announced that the threat of administration has been removed after the Magpies settled an unpaid tax bill of £324,000
The previous owners Munto Finance failed to come up with the cash it promised high profile Director of Football at the club, Sven Goran Eriksson. The club had high ambitions to achieve top flight football but did not put the money where their mouth was. Eriksson has since departed and the club are now trying to find £2.5m to survive until the end of the season.
County are currently ideally placed for a play-offs push and although already in a play-offs spot have a number of games in hand over their rivals in the top six spots.
Cotterill will take a short-term deal until the summer when the situation will be reviewed.
He is the fourth manager in charge of Notts County this season following Ian McParland, Hans Backe and caretaker, Dave Kevan and his first game in charge will be the match against Hereford at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
