Speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference having seen Burnley pick their heads up after the hosts equalised to take the late winner and all three points, a delighted Dyche explained.

‘Overall I am very pleased. Sometimes the hardest fight is the one you are expected to win. There was a lot of expectation on us tonight because of last season and where we are coming from. But some people think you can roll over teams and it`s not that easy. All credit to them, because I thought they pressed hard and worked ever so hard with a new manager and they gave a very, very good account of themselves and were very difficult to play against, but overall I thought we just about deserved it.’

As for the opening goal and their equaliser, Dyche went on to say it was terrific movement for the opener and he credited Gray for a ‘sublime’ finish to it, but he had to admit that their leveller was a ‘worldie’ and it was one of their better spells of the game so they’d have been pleased to make it count, but he felt our reaction to conceding was ‘terrific’.

‘We have a strong jaw at times and we are relentless in our thinking. We don`t get disappointed, as everyone saw and went back on the front foot to score a very good goal. I tell the lads to always be alive in the box, and both goals came that way, so it`s great to see the strikers on the scoresheet.’

With us now going into the international break, the victory also means our fifth in seven and Dyche knows we go into the lull now in great spirits because of that.

‘People mentioned that we hadn`t won in two before the game, but they didn`t mention that we`ve won five of the last seven with a draw inbetween, so it`s fair to say we are on a nice little run of form. That`s good for the mentality and good to keep the focus on what we are trying to achieve.’

With Sam Vokes getting the winner on the day, he was also interviewed following the game and he briefly explained.

‘It was lovely to get the winner. It was good work from Scotty down the right to get a shot off and Camp makes a good save so it was just a case of reacting to that really and I managed to tuck it away. In the first-half, I had picked the ball up and swung my left foot for once and it ricocheted back off the bar but it was nice to get the shot off. I think we were strong in the first-half but we became a bit sloppy in the phase of the game where we conceded. But as soon as we did concede we managed to bounce back as we do and got the all-important three points.’

With a growing partnership with Andre Gray, Vokes went on to say that he expects further improvement from them both in the coming weeks as he feels they are now starting to really gel.

‘Andre obviously missed the last game and managed to get nearly 90 minutes in and we can get away for two weeks and prepare for the next one. I feel like we`re really gelling now and it`s important we work hard together and it pays off in games. Scoring goals obviously helps that confidence to grow and we`ve got one each tonight.’
