Speculation early last week was fuelled with the news that Manchester United winger, Chris Eagles was about to sign for the Clarets and could be joining them on their US Tour.

Clarets fans then had their hopes dashed by Owen Coyle who revealed discussions were not as advanced has some had reported and he appeared to dismiss the suggestion that Eagles had been at Turf Moor on Monday to have a Medical and seal the deal.

There has been no news or gossip since and there has been no arrival of Chris Eagles at the WakeMed facility in Cary, North Carolina where the Clarets are currently trianing until they go to Minnesota for their second friendly of the US tour on Tuesday night against Minnesota Thunder.

So where is Eagles at this precise moment in time? Well yesterday,he was in Scotland to play in a Red Devils friendly against Aberdeen. He came on from the bench and by all accounts looked to have missed a couple of sitters according to the Telegraph:

‘United substitute Chris Eagles, who had missed a sitter just after the break, chipped a loose ball wide of an open goal after some confusion in the Pittodrie rearguard.’

Whether the Clarets are still keen to sign Eagles, with other clubs including Derby County and Leeds United reported to be interested in the player, remains to be seen.

They may have to move quickly to seal a deal and by all accounts break their transfer record again within a month, with reports that we are willing to pay up to £1.5 million to secure his services.

It seems however that nothing will happen until after the US Tour so let’s hope we dont miss the boat.
