David Edgar thought he would be playing for Swansea on loan for rest of the season but an administrative cock-up in the loan procedure identified this week means he is now back at Turf Moor and could be in the eighteen to face West Ham in the FA Cup 5th round clash at the Boleyn Ground on Monday night.

His chances of featuring could be higher with two of our players also cup-tied. Our two recent signings in the January window, Charlie Austin and Marvin Bartley are both ineligible to play.

Edgar officially returned to Burnley in midweek after FIFA denied him international clearance for his loan switch to Swansea to the end of the season.

In a bizarre ‘jobsworth’ situation, it was revealed that a slight administrative discrepancy with just one decimal point being out of place in Burnley’s paperwork meant clearance for the switch from an English club to a Welsh club could not take place! FIFA may be the game’s world governing body but they don’t half come across as a bunch of tosspots sometimes!

The move was good enough for the Football League and Football Association of Wales, it would seem but not the numpties residing in the FIFA ivory tower! Give me strength!
