Burnley have offered new contracts to five of their young professionals.

First year professionals Cameron Howieson and Jaden Hill both midfielders are joined by striker Jason Gilchrist. Second-year professional defender Tom Anderson and midfielder Steven Hewitt make up the successful quintet. Steven Hewitt, previously sponsored by Vital Burnley is pictured above but we wish all five players a great future with the club.

Sadly though seven professionals will be leaving the club with no new deals on the table for the following players:

First Year Professionals

Micah Evans
Jack Errington
Kyle Brownhill
Luke Conlan
Luke Gallagher

Second Year Professionals

Alex Coleman
Archie Love

It is perhaps surprising that some of these players have been released but this is always a difficult time of the year when these sort of decisions have to be made.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche said: “This is a tough time of year as a manager because, along with the really good stories about the young professionals we are keeping as part of the future of the club, we also have to let young people know that we are not retaining their services.

“We wish those players well for their future and we have assured all of them that, as part of our beliefs, we will try enable them to continue their careers in football.

“We do have a responsibility to look after these players as best we can and align them with their next pathway.”
