Football Requires Focus & Burnley Know That

|

Goalscorer Ashley Barnes has hailed the ‘focus’ of his Burnley colleagues for seeing out some tricky moments in the clash with West Ham United last weekend.

Heading to the London Stadium and seeing through a tricky first half before things turned trickier once he’d opened the scoring as we worked hard towards what become a three nil victory on the day, having opened the scoring in the second period Ashley Barnes told the Official Site that it was a credit to everyone that they stayed focused and on the job at hand despite what went on with pitch invasions across the game.

‘That`s our job to stay focused for 90 plus minutes and hopefully come away with the win and we did that. We knew it was going to be difficult with the circumstances running around the club but we had to come here and do our job. Once we got one we thought we might get a couple if we kept grinding away and that`s what we did. We haven`t got a game now for another couple of weeks so that win was lovely.’

Chris Wood got the late brace to secure, but Barnes knows it’s all eyes to West Bromwich Albion this weekend who will pose a different test as they sit in bottom spot in the Premier League table.

On a personal level though Barnes has now scored in three matches on the spin for the first time since 2011, hopefully that becomes four at the next time of asking.
