Burnley’s pre season friendly against Hannover 96 was abandoned at Turf Moor after kick off owing to crowd trouble from our visitors.

The BBC reported the trouble in the first half in the Hannover section where seats were ripped up and thrown during a surge to the home supporters.

Full details are still reasonably sketchy but the game was called off at half time following Police advice. Burnley were winning one nil at the point following a goal from Ben Mee.

A short statement from the club on social media said.

‘Today’s game has been abandoned on police advice. More to follow.’

No doubt the club will give a fuller update within the coming hours.
