Burnley face an intriguing game at home to Spurs in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. The draw was held in the ‘Deep Aquarium’ Hull and of course Hull City were last season’s surpise FA Cup finalists going down eventually to Arsenal 3-2 despite getting a 2-0 lead!
Many Clarets fans will remember that Carling Cup Semi-Final second leg in January 2009 against Spurs when we just failed to reach Wembley despite winning 3-2. It was the 4-1 first leg defeat at White Hart Lane that same month that eventually scuppered Burnley. We did though beat Spurs 4-2 at home in the following Premier League season in May 2010 after securing promotion via the Wembley Play-Offs Final in May 2009.
Going further back to the sixties of course, there were many memorable matches between these two famous clubs who in their day were today’s Chelsea and Manchester City!
The FA Cup third round ties are to be played on the weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th January, 2015 and we will let you know the exact fixture date and time once it is confirmed.
