What is it with journalist Alan Nixon and his preoccupation with Burnley FC? You might have thought his interest would have waned after his close friend and traitor, Owen Coyle stabbed Burnley in the back and left for Bolton.
You have to wonder if there is some sort of sub-plot going on here and whether Coyle is still using Nixon to stir some unrest at the club so he can more easily poach our players.
You also have to ask where he is getting this information from if he is simply not making it up to cause mischief. Does he have some sort of mole at Turf Moor or are the players and their agents contacting him to force the issue?
The inevitable connection between our players and Coyle wanting to bring them to the Reebok seems to know no limits, some of the rumours emanating from Nixon himself.
Stephen Jordan was linked with a move to the Reebok a few weeks back and this week Nixon suggests this is one player, along with captain Steven Caldwell who will not be offered a new contract.
Fletcher, Mears, Eagles and Jensen amongst others have all been linked with a move to the Reebok and today the latest news is that Wade Elliott is also of interest to Judas.
At least this time it hasn’t come from Nixon but in fact the Lancashire Telegraph. An article by Suzanne Geldard suggests Coyle is ready to line up a bid for the Clarets winger possibly as early as today.
Wembley hero, Wade Elliott has a year left to run on his current contract so would command a fee but it would be expected to be below £1 million.
Everything at the club seems up in the air at the moment, not least of which is the long-term future of Brian Laws at Burnley FC.
We simply have to resolve these issues quickly and as soon as the club make statements regarding our out-of-contract players and their fate the better.
It would be nice to shut the likes of Nixon up once and for all
