It’s in the Can for Chris McCann (and Jay Rod)

Chris McCann, often linked with a move to a Premier League club before we became one ourselves has now shown his further loyalty to Burnley FC. The midfielder has today signed a new two year contract to give the club and fans a boost ahead of our top flight 2009-10 kick-off game against Stoke City at the Britannia this Saturday.

Owen Coyle commented as follows:

“Chris only had a year to go and being such a valuable asset it’s a bit of security for both him and the football club.For such a young lad, he’s really a team player and the experience he had in the Championship, as a goal-scoring threat from midfield, was terrific.Why he keeps being overlooked by the Republic of Ireland I don’t know!”

Clarets fans will also be delighted to learn that our up-and-coming striker, Jay Rodriguez has also signed a new two year deal ensuring both players will now be on our books at least until the Summer of 2011.

“Jay is also continuing his development, as we know,continued the gaffer.

“We have a real belief in him, as he showed last year with the goals he scored, and I believe he can be a goal-scoring threat.I’m sure both of them continue their development with the football club and we are absolutely thrilled to gain them both on board for another two years.”
