Clarets midfielder James O’Connor has failed to agree a new deal and will be the fouth player in the close season to depart the club following Garreth O’Connor, Jon Harley and John Spicer.

Coyle had offered O’Connor new terms with his contract due to expire this summer

There is however believed to be interest from other clubs and the player has been accused of stalling on his decision after returning recently from holiday.

Owen Coyle had this to say about the situation:

‘We made James an offer, which was a fair one, but he was waiting to hear back from a couple of other clubs,’

‘I’ve got no problem with him excercising those rights, but I’m not going to wait about for him to come back later and say he’s not going to stay, so I have wished him all the best.’
