The Clarets will host Lancashire rivals Preston North End in the second round of the Capital One Cup. The tie will be played in the week commencing August 26th.
It is the sides` first meeting since the Clarets won 2-1 at Deepdale in February 2011. That was also the season when Preston were demoted to League One where they have remained ever since. These two sides last met in the League Cup competition way back in August 1993 when Burnley notched up a 6-2 win on aggregate.
It is the second Lancashire derby in succession this year for the visitors in this competition. In the first round, Preston saw off local rivals Blackpool 1-0 at Deepdale on Monday night.
Burnley on the other hand in their first round game thumped York City 4-0 on the following Tuesday evening at Bootham Crescent.
