Leon Cort’s loan at Preston ran out today (New Years Eve) but both clubs have now agreed a loan extension until the 23rd January.

The centre back has impressed at Deepdale since arriving in November in his three appearances despite Preston still struggling at the foot of the Championship table.

Preston too recently sacked their manager,Darren Ferguson just two afters after a similar fate befell Brian Laws at Burnley.

It looks like both caretaker managers David Unsworth at Preston and Stuart Gray at Burnley though have finalised the new deal despite upheaval at both clubs.

There was some talk that Cort could be signed permanently in the January window but that now might be on hold while the management situation at both clubs is sorted out.

The current arrangment still allows for a permanent signing towards the end of the month if both new managers once appointed agree.
