Things can only get better they say but all Clarets fans are starting to ask when that will be after more bad news today.

Clarets striker Steven Fletcher has today broken a hand during training with the Scotland international squad.

Following the debacle against Portmouth at Turf Moor on Saturday, Fletcher had linked up with Scotland squad ahead of their friendly with the Czech Republic this week.

He has now withdrawn from the squad and will not be available for the Scotland match scheduled for Wednesday night.

It is still hoped that the forward will have recovered in time for the Clarets match against Arsenal at the Emirates next Saturday, although it is likely he will now be required to wear a protective cast.

Fletcher is now heading back to Turf Moor after picking up the injury this morning

“He has been for an X-ray and is coming back to us” said Brian Laws

“We need to get it checked out again but we feel confident that he will be available to play at the weekend with some sort of cast.”
