Jay Rodriguez injured his right ankle in a reserve match against Hull City at the Crown Ground last night after landing awkwardly following a challenge in the air.

He had to be stretchered-off and a scan today revealed more bad news for Owen Coyle after already losing Chris McCann and Martin Paterson to injury in the last week or so.

Rodriguez will now follow Chris and Pato and face being out of action for three months after scans revealed he had fractured his ankle.

Owen Coyle speaking to the Official Site had this to say about the grim news:

‘We are devastated for the lad and our primary concern is for him. He’s obviously an integral part our first-team squad and it’s another blow to lose him for three months on the back of the other injuries we have had. However, I know Jay will get the best possible care under our team of physios and we look forward to him coming back as soon as possible to play a part in the remainder of our season.’
