Swedish international midfielder Samuel Holmén is understood to have caught the eye of Owen Coyle and it is rumoured Holmén could be a target for the Clarets when the next transfer window opens in January 2010. A transfer fee of about £800,000 could be involved if the deal goes ahead.

The 24 year old currently plays for Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF and signed for them from Swedish club,IF Elfsborg in August 2007.

It is understood that Holmén wants to play in the English Premier League and indeed he was linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer until it was clear they were going to be relegated. Celtic were also linked with him a couple of seasons back.

He is an attacking midfielder and indeed has a pretty good goal-scoring record having scored 8 goals in 56 appearances for the Superliga club in addition to two goals for Sweden in 15 games.

The missing man of Burnley, Remco van der Schaaf also had a recent loan spell at Brøndby IF last season and there will be inevitable speculation that he could be moving in the opposite direction as part of a player-cash deal.
