Eddie Howe has not ruled out signing striker-cum-left winger,Josh McQuoid on a permanent deal in the summer according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

McQuoid signed a 93-day loan on the 20th January, the maximum period permitted and he will return to his parent club, Millwall a week before the season ends.

Eddie Howe knew about the player having also been his boss at Bournemouth. Indeed McQuoid played in 83 games for the Cherries before signing initially on loan for Millwall in December 2010 and then making the deal permanent in January 2011.

Since arriving at Turf Moor he has impressed both fans and manager alike.

The 22-year-old has featured in six games making four starts and coming on from the bench in the other two.

He came closest to scoring in the home game against Barnsley but has yet to get on the score sheet

“I thought Josh really did stand out in that game,” said the Burnley gaffer

“He played a huge part in the first goal – it was going in and Jay Rod like all good strikers has made sure it was. Josh is a team player, he understands. Jay just got there on the line. But I thought Josh performed really well. It was his best game for us, playing on the left he linked really well with the centre forwards and I think his confidence has grown the longer he`s been here.

“He`s now part of the team so we`re really pleased for him.”

Talking about a potential permanent deal in the summer, Howe didn’t rule it out but said cautiously:

“It`s too early. He`s still Millwall`s player.

“He`s done really well and fitted in really well to the team and what we`re trying to build. But as for beyond his loan spell, that`s for another day.”
