Media gossip suggests that Sean Dyche could be looking at 29 year Brentford striker, Clayton Donaldson as a possible replacement for Charlie Austin who last week joined Q.P.R.

Donaldson started his professional career with Hull City in 2002 having come through their youth system. He was also on Bradford City`s books as a youth team member before that. He played only two first team games for the Tigers and spent most of his time on Hull`s books out on loan including two spells at non-league, Harrogate Town and a spell at both Scarborough and Halifax. After being released by Hull, Donaldson was eventually signed by York City in June 2005 scoring a remarkable 41 goals in 85 appearances for the Minstermen. He agreed a contract extension with York for the 2006-07 season in July but joined Hibernian in the summer of 2007. Donaldson`s next move was to League One club Crewe Alexandra in August 2008 on a three-year deal for an undisclosed six-figure fee.

His goal scoring prowess continued with 47 goals in 117 appearances but he left Crewe to join Brentford after signing a three-year contract on a free transfer in July 2011.
