Burnley have been linked with a move for Manchester United’s young midfielder, Jesse Lingard in todays Sunday tabloids with a view to bringing him to Turf Moor on a season-long loan.

The People reports that Sean Dyche is believed to have watched the 20-year-old in action for United’s development side against their Liverpool counterparts last week and was impressed by what he saw!

The player has already represented England at both Under 17 and Under 21 level but does not at the moment appear to be in David Moyes’s plans despite having a good pre-season tour with the Red Devils in the Far East and Australia.

Lingard progressed through Manchester United youth academy and was part of the side that won the 2010-11 FA Youth Cup. He signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2010 but has yet to make his first-team debut for United.

The Warrington-born player spent part of last season in the Championship after agreeing a loan deal with Leicester City. He initially joined the Foxes on a one month loan in November 2012 which was extended to January 2013. In total he made just five appearances for Leicester before returning to Old Trafford.
