Chris Eagles had already made it plain that he would be likely to fly the nest for one in a taller tree next season if Burnley were relegated. That relegation back down to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League was confirmed following the 4-0 defeat by Liverpool at Turf Moor last Sunday

A number of Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for the midfielder including newly promoted West Brom, Owen Coyle’s Bolton (naturally!!), Everton and Spurs.

The latest rumoured to be interested today is West Ham, a club who were in a battle with the Clarets to avoid the drop this season and won.

If the rumour in the Daily Mail is to be believed, Eagles is just one of a number of players targeted by an ambitious West Ham.

Hammers co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan believe the current squad is in need of a major overhaul if they are to avoid another relegation battle next season.

In the same Daily Mail article the Hammers were also linked with Cardiff’s Peter Whittingham(our former loan midfielder). The club were also believed to be looking at a cut-price summer move for Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.
