Burnley have been linked with an interest in Doncaster midfielder Simon Gillett.

Doncaster manager Sean O’Driscoll could be forced to sell the player with finances tight at the club and it is understood £300,000 could be enough to tempt the club to let him go. Burnley could face competition though for the 25 year old with Watford and Leeds also reportedly interested.

Gillett started his professional career with Southampton in 2005 after coming through their youth system but spent most of his time at the club away from St Marys on loan. He had loan spells at Walsall, Blackpool (twice), Bournemouth, Yeovil and finally in 2009 Doncaster Rovers before joining them on a permanent basis on a free transfer 12 months later after agreeing a two year contract.
