Alan Nixon in the Daily Mirror today reports that Burnley are about to give a trial to 29 year old,Cameroon international midfielder, Salomon Olembé.

Olembé is currently a free agent

The Clarets have a Reserves match at Turf Moor tonight against a Manchester City second string and it is hoped Olembé will arrive in time to feature in the game.

Nantes was the first club to give Olembé a professional contract in 1997 after he came through their youth system. He signed for Marseille following a loan spell there in 2002; a move which cost the French Ligue 1 club £8 million

Olembé is also no stranger to these shores. He had a loan spell with Leeds United during the 2003-4 season whilst on Marseille’s books. Olembé also had a trial with Derby County in the summer of 2007 scoring in a friendly against Burton Albion. Not being offered a deal though Olembé was then snapped up by Wigan Athletic in September 2007 initially signing a one-year contract.

The left winger made just 8 appearances for the club and in April 2008 he was transferred to Turkish club Kayserispor.

It had been reported that he had signed for Greek side,Larissa in January 2010 but this appears to have fallen through.

Olembé has 60 caps for the Indomitable Lions and will know fellow Cameroon international and Clarets defender and midfielder, Andre Bikey pretty well!
