Paterson is believed to be a summer transfer target for Greek Superleague leaders Olympiacos according to the Lancashire Telegraph this week.

It is understood that Pato, who is out of contract at the end of this season has not yet had new terms tabled. The paper goes on to say Paterson could be allowed to leave Turf Moor on a free transfer despite having been a club record signing for £1.3 million at the time after being signed from Scunthorpe back in June 2008. He signed a four year contract before agreeing a contract extension to the summer of 2013. Paterson became a firm fans favourite during our promotion season to the top flight and was our top scorer that season with 19 league and cup goals. It has not gone according to plan since though for the Northern Ireland international and until recently he has struggled with numerous injuries. This season though after recovering from an hamstring injury he has begun to impress again and is making more regular starts.

However, Olympiacos believe the 25-year-old could now potentially be available in the summer and are thought to be ready to offer Paterson, Champions League football next season!

A number of Championship clubs are also reported to have made tentative enquiries about the striker.

Do you think Pato could be on his way and if so would you be upset? Let us know beneath the article.
