The Clarets search for new faces to bolster their paper-thin squad before the transfer window closes on September 1st continues this week. There are now just seven days left before that`s it with no new Premier League dealing (and that includes loans!) then permitted until the January 2015 window opens

Speculation in the media continues and the latest player to be linked is Bolton Wanderers midfielder Mark Davies.

Davies is thought to have a £3 million price-tag on his head and could be well within Burnley`s budget but the Lancashire Telegraph is somewhat dismissive of the link. They don`t think there is any truth in the rumours so we perhaps should not get too excited at this stage!

The 26 year old started his career at Wolves after coming through their Youth Academy. He never really made the grade at Molinuex and spent almost two years on the sidelines towards the end of his time there. He did join Leicester City then in League One on a one month loan in November 2008 in order to get some match fitness and he impressed enough to get a loan extension until February 2009. However in late January 2009, Davies handed in a transfer request at Wolves despite the club offering him a new three-and-a-half year contract. He signed for Bolton Wanderers later that month. Davies agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract, for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £1 million (rising to £2 million with add-ons). In February 2013, Davies signed a new contract with Bolton, keeping him at the club until 2017 but then two days later picked up an injury that would keep him sidelined for ten months!
