The Clarets of course won a massive point this week when they achieved a 1-1 draw against high-flying Arsenal at Turf Moor in midweek.
After an impressive performance which surely must have caught the eye of Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger it has now been revealed that before the match, Owen Coyle made a loan enquiry for Jack Wilshere; the 17 year old England Under 21 attacking midfielder.
Reports in the media today suggest Coyle enquired about the young gunner in the pre-match pleasantries with Arsene Wenger asking if he could take Wilshere on loan for the rest of the season.
Wilshere will make up eighteen on New Years Day and has been tipped to move out on loan in January. It is thought Burnley’s stunning attacking performance against the Gunners on Wednesday night could tip the scales with Wenger being impressed with the set-up at Turf Moor and the Clarets style of play.
It is understood clubs from the Championship have also enquired about Wilshere’s availability on loan including Watford and Reading but it is thought Wenger could feel a move to a Premier League side could give Wilshere better experience. A strong condition though could be that Wilshere would have to feature regularly in the side. Wilshere is highly rated and in on the fringes of making it to Asenal’s first team. He has made just two appearances so far in the first team. Wilshere made his debut in a Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park in September 2008 when he came on as a 84th-minute substitute for Robin van Persie.
The Stevenage-born Young Gun came through Arsenal’s Academy, joining them at the age of 9 after spending a couple of months with local team, Luton Town’s soccer school.
The left-footed midfielder has played for England at Under 16,17,19 and 21 level.He has also been praised by England manager Fabio Capello, who indicated that there is a chance that he could be included in the 2010 World Cup squad
Wenger and Coyle according to media reports could be meeting again next week to discuss the possibility of a loan deal.
