Burnley striker Danny Ings has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for October.

Ings had a month to remember. He made his England Under-21 debut, and got both goals in the 2-0 win against top-of-the-table rivals Queens Park Rangers.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche said: “Danny has a desire to learn and improve, and is making very good strides on his journey into developing into a fine young player.

“In my opinion, he is fully deserving of this award.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “It’s always nice to see players get rewards for their efforts.

“Danny Ings’ fantastic start to the season has seen him earn his first call up for England Under-21s.

“He has struck up a formidable partnership with Sam Vokes, and is sitting on nine goals for the season – which is a terrific effort so far.”

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: “Ings has come to life for Burnley since the departure of Charlie Austin to Queens Park Rangers.”
