Stoke Home Game Now on Wednesday

Snow and icy conditions in the North West last month put paid to our game against Stoke City at Turf Moor originally scheduled for Saturday 9th January.

The game would have been an intriguing one if played back then since we were in the middle of a managerial upheavel with Owen Coyle having just left for Bolton taking second-in-command, Sandy Stewart with him.

Steve Davis and Phil Hughes were due to be in charge as caretakers which would have been interesting considering that both followed Coyle to Bolton a couple of days afterwards.

It would probably have been the worst time to play anybody that weekend to be honest with the club, staff and players reeling from the Coyle departure.

The match was finally rearranged for Tuesday 9th March but Stoke City’s progress in the FA Cup has necessitated a further change to the fixture.

Stoke beat Manchester City 3-1 in extra time in the FA Cup 5th round replay at the Britannia last night and will now face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals on Sunday 7th March.

In order to give the Staffordhire club some breathing space, it has been decided to put our game against them back 24 hours to Wednesday 10th March. The 7:45 pm Kick-off time will remain the same.
