Burnley’s Championship season continued with a win at the New York Stadium against Rotherham on Friday.

It took a late goal from Vokes, after Gray’s early goal cancelled out by Ward, to give the Burnley a two-one win against the managerless Rotherham to not only get the Clarets back to winning ways but to send us into the international break with this.

Hopes would have been high coming into this game that Burnley could get back on track given the poor defensive form Rotherham had shown this season with Gray (9) getting in ahead of Collins to finish past Camp to see the managerless Millers, who sacked Evans on Monday, one-down.

A second would have killed the game, with this almost coming on the half hour with Vokes thumping an effort from 25-yards, that had Camp beaten again, against the post but when the ‘keeper was called on again he made a fine save to deny Jones.

Heaton didn’t have much to do, but he did save one effort from former Blackburn striker Derbyshire.

There wasn’t anything Heaton could do though when Rotherham did force an equaliser in the second half, however in fairness I wouldn’t have though any ‘keeper could have done anything with the Millers’ loanee from Spurs Ward (75), who created an opening, fired a 25-yards beauty into the top corner.

A win was secured in the final 10-minutes though.

Arfield’s shot was saved by Camp but Vokes (81) was in the right place at the right time, like all good strikers are, with the Welsh international following up to win it for Burnley from six-yards.

Victory, at that point, had taken the Clarets up to third with Saturday results seeing us drop to sixth.

Another excellent away win , which aren’t easy in this league. We could have been 3-0 up in the first half if those spectacular efforts be Vokes and Jones had gone in. And then the perfect reaction to their top-drawer goal , with Vokes putting away the deflected shot by Arfield , who’s now playing with more freedom since Barton has come in to greatly improve things in midfield. Onward and upwards. UTC.

Agree with all WC.Thought Arfield back to himself out wide & Barton gives more balance to ctr.midfield.Jones also playing well.Great future for this squad if we can stay injury free.Strikeforce will only get better & Long looks a prospect.Another 3 points at home to Bolton will set us up nicely for away trip to Forest.Things are definitely looking up.UTC

Agree with the Barton comment Irish and Welsh. Also thought the back line looked more solid (except for the odd lapse) with him in front of them.
