The Premier League season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the table. At the other end Swansea moved out of the bottom 3 with Crystal Palace replacing them joining Hull and Sunderland.

A shock defeat at Anfield – a first suffered at home in a year – saw Liverpool miss the chance from the early kick off on Saturday to close the gap on Chelsea. Swansea – as Paul Clement earned his first league win as Swans boss – moved out of the bottom 3 with this 3-2 win.
AFC Bournemouth twice came from behind to earn a draw with Watford – who had been on for a first win in seven – in a 2-2 at Dean Court.
A sixth defeat in an eight game winless run was suffered by Crystal Palace – Sam Allardyce is still awaiting a win as Palace boss – with this 1-0 loss seeing them drop into the bottom 3. The late Everton winner – they have now won four in a five game unbeaten run – at Selhurst Park took the Toffees clear in 7th.
The Middlesbrough run without a win was extended to five when West Ham left the Riverside Stadium with a 3-1 win meaning the Hammers made it back-to-back wins with Andy Carroll continuing his goalscoring run.
Stoke were set to end the unbeaten Manchester United until an added time equaliser from England captain Wayne Rooney – to see him become United’s all time record goalscorer – saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw at the bet365 Stadium.
West Brom either win or lose these days. Albion have seen such a scenario in the last nine with a 2-0 win against Sunderland secured at the Hawthorns. This defeat – four of the last five have been lost – saw the Black Cats drop to the foot of the Premier League.
The late kick off on Saturday saw Manchester City lose a two goal lead in a controversial Tottenham comeback that ended in a 2-2 draw. City remained in 5th with 2nd placed Spurs faced with the prospect of dropping nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea if they won on Sunday.
Sunday’s lunchtime kick off saw Southampton end a four game losing Premier League run with a 3-0 win against Leicester – a second successive defeat by such a scoreline suffered by the champions – at St Mary’s. The Foxes look as if they’ll face a relegation battle to end this season, which is a far cry to the battle won last term!
An amazing ending to the game at the Emirates Stadium saw Arsenal – down to 10 men – appear to have two points taken away from them by an added time equalising penalty from Burnley. However, the Gunners still managed to secure a 2-1 victory with another penalty in the 98th minute to move up to 2nd.
Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points when they registered a 2-0 win over relegation threatened Hull. The Blues are looking good to win the title with the Tigers remaining second bottom and three points from safety.
