Wayne’s World of Woe

Wayne Thomas picked up a knee injury and was stretchered off in the recent match against Colchester at Layer Road. It was announced earlier this week that our defender could be out on the team for sometime following a knee cartilage operation

Steve Cotterill is quoted as saying ‘Wayne damaged his knee at Colchester and once it had settled down and the swelling had gone we got him scanned.

‘He had another scan yesterday (Monday) and went in straight away after the results showed a torn piece of cartilage.

‘The operation yesterday afternoon was a success and now he is rehabilitating.’

The manager went on to say ‘There is no timescale on his recovery time at the moment.

‘We just have to wait and see how quickly he can get back up and running, but it will clearly be a slow week this week.’

It has been one long catalogue of depressing news for Wayne Thomas since he arrived at Turf Moor. He has suffered a long spell out of the team previously with cruciate problems, had been chastised for seeing red and being sent off in the Saints match at Turf Moor earlier this season and suffered the disappointment of losing his Captaincy to new boy Steve Caldwell. Just has he had put all that behind him and was beginning to show significant improvements in form, injury strikes again.

Torrid luck Wayne and all at Vital Burnley FC wish you well for a speedy recovery.

The loss of Sinclair to Huddersfield earlier this year with Thomas now out for a few weeks leaves our defence vulnerable especially if there are any more injuries or suspensions in the back four.

Steve Cotterill it would appear is looking to bring in another defender on loan as cover. It is believed Steve was after this player before in the transfer window
